What to Expect from Expio Productions.

Frequently Asked Questions

- How many discs do we get? What if we need extra copies?

- You receive 4 copies of the final product by default, and if you would like more, they are $5 each.

- Who chooses the background music?

- The background music is completely your choice, you can put it in any part of the DVD too.

- How long does it take to edit and finish the video?

- We usually have a draft copy for you to look through by 2 weeks after the wedding day, so most couples just let me know when they are back from their honeymoon and I send it through. Then after the draft is approved or changes made, we send out the final copies within a few days.

- What are your payment terms? When do we need to pay the full amount?

- We need full payment before we send the final product. You can fix it up any time between now and then, some couples like to have it out of the way before the day so it's not hanging over their head for the honeymoon, others just pay after they approve the draft.

- How long does the final product go for?

- This really depends on the content you want included.

Typically a preparation clip and a photo shoot clip goes for 4-7 minutes and it set to a song of your choice, but the ceremony and speeches are in real time, so they go for as long as they go for on the day. Other than that, we usually get snippets of footage at the reception of all the guests eating and dancing to get a good overview of the night.
As a general rule the DVD goes for as long as it takes to cover everything you want to remember about the day.

The wedding videography journey.

Our philosophy when it comes to wedding videos is keeping it classy, professional, fun and real. We do our best to make sure that your video is more of a faithful representation of your actual wedding day than a staged and unrealistic performance.

So from start to finish, your satisfaction is our top priority. We make sure we capture who you really are - in your style, while staying right out of the way. Our aim is work around you so well that you don't even remember us being there – you've got better things to be worrying about on your wedding day!

Our contact with you will usually start with an email or a phone call if you like what you see on this website and want to make an enquiry, after which we will establish whether your date is available for you to make an expression of interest. If someone else has already made an expression of interest but not made a booking, to be fair we will give them the opportunity to take it or leave it and keep you posted on the outcome.

If your date is available and you wish to make a booking, we then organise with you which parts of the day you would like covered, and make a quote based on the Pricing Calculator, plus any relevant additions such as travel ($75 per hour from Bendigo) or extra copies of the DVD ($5 each).

Once we have given you a quote you may pay any fraction of the total cost that you like as a deposit, with a minimum of $200. And the rest of the payment can be made any time before you receive your final product. (Usually around 2-3 weeks after your wedding day.)

From there, we let you go about the rest of your preparations until a week or two before your big day when we get in contact and establish exactly where and when you want us to be filming. At this time we also organise any special material that you want covered, and any other requests you may have in mind that we'll need to know about. We try and make this preparation time as detailed as possible so that we won't need to bug you on the day to get more instructions!

On the day, we capture the scenes. If you are getting your pre-ceremony preparations covered, we can start any time after 9am, and send one camera to your fiancee and one to you. We also make sure every moment of your ceremony is captured by using 2 camera angles which will later be mixed together in the post production.

Once again, the fly on the wall approach is the way that we like to do things all day, while after the ceremony we can follow along with you while you get your photos taken, to get some footage of the "between snaps" moments. Many times this involves a great combination of beautiful scenery, glamorous poses, and bad calls from attention seeking groomsmen.

Your reception is then the scene for plenty of footage of your guests mingling, (spontaneous video messages are an option if you want us to put your guests on the spot!) as well as speeches, music, dancing, cutting the cake, and everything else that goes on. Guests that you would rather forget were there can also be edited out by request...

After we have filmed as much of the night as you wish, we let you go enjoy your honeymoon while we get to work on your footage. The length of the footage captured on the day very much depends on how much continuous action you want to keep.

Usually we cut the preparation clips and photo shoot highlights down to about 4 or 5 minutes of quality footage and set it to a song of your choice. We are covered by APRA/AMCOS to use copyrighted music for up to 30 copies for home use – which will more than cover you, your parents, nanna and pa and whoever else you would like to give a copy to!

The biggest factors for total length of your final product are the ceremony and speeches, as they run continuously without cutting. So we just include it all however long it goes for. For example; we're not going to get all legalistic and make you pay extra to keep your father-in-law's hour long speech...

So all going well when you return from your honeymoon you will have an approval copy of the edited footage to watch through and make whatever edits you would like, and once we've fixed those up we will send you 4 copies of your final product with custom and professional looking case/disc artwork, menus and chapter selections.

From here on we simply wish you the most important thing, a long and fruitful marriage, marked by love, respect and growth. We hope your wedding video will always remind you of the words that were said at the outset of your journey, and of how much closer you have grown since that day.
